NBCC’s Annual Lobby Day on Capitol Hill will immediately follow the Inaugural Advocate Leadership Summit on Tuesday, May 7th. An immensely empowering day, busloads of advocates arrive on Capitol Hill prepared and ready to discuss NBCC’s top priorities and urge their representatives to support government actions that will move public policy toward our goal of ending breast cancer.
Lobby Day is open to all who want to participate in this powerful day when hundreds of breast cancer activists make their voices heard. On Lobby Day, our breast cancer advocates will:
- Urge members of Congress to support and pass the Accelerating the End of Breast Cancer Act, legislation which will help meet the Breast Cancer Deadline 2020® goal;
- Promote continued funding for the Department of Defense (DOD) Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP);
- Support access to quality health care for all.
Advocates interested in joining NBCC for Lobby Day who are not attending the May 4-6 Inaugural Advocate Leadership Summit are welcome to travel to Washington, DC to participate. A special online training webinar will be held in advance to prepare advocates. To register for Lobby Day and the training webinar, click here.
If you need to arrive the night before Lobby Day, hotel rooms are available at the group rate of $239.00 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel. To make your hotel reservations you may either call the hotel at 888-421-1442. Make sure you mention that you are attending the “National Breast Cancer Coalition Conference or NBCC Conference.” Or, you can make your reservation online by April 11, 2013 by clicking onto the following link: https://resweb.passkey.com/go/NBCC2013.
NBCC’s Annual Lobby Day is a cornerstone to NBCC and Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®. We bring our grassroots network of advocates to the doors of the nation’s decision makers, effecting change in public policy and scientific research to carve out the path that will move us towards that goal.
