NBCC Advocate Leadership Summit FAQ

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, NBCC has decided, after careful consideration, to hold a 2020 Virtual Advocate Leadership Summit and a Virtual Lobby Day

The Virtual Advocate Leadership Summit will consist of a series of live webcasts featuring all the topics and speakers you would have seen at the live in-person meeting. We are currently identifying hosting platforms that will allow for dynamic, interactive Q&A with live speakers while also providing for online engagement among our advocates. For those who are unable to attend a specific Virtual Summit webcast at the specified time, don’t worry. We will archive all the Virtual Summit videos and make them available on-demand to paid registrants.

The previous Lobby Day scheduled for May 5th will also be moved to a virtual format. Instead of coming to Washington, D.C., and meeting with elected officials in person on Capitol Hill, advocates will be asked to schedule online meetings or conference calls with their representatives or their staff.  Melanie Wyne, Chief of Policy Officer, will spearhead the effort using NBCC’s online platform to assist in tracking meetings and reporting results.

Please know that your registration, and any related fundraising, each year underwrites only a small portion of the actual in-person Summit expenses, which are more than $3,600 a person.  NBCC covers the remaining cost, including scholarships, through registration, small foundation grants and NBCC general operating funds.  This year, the cost will be less than $3,600 a person, but more than the registration fee. We need your help more than ever to make the Virtual Advocate Leadership Summit a reality!

Please see the information below to answer any questions you may have about registration and hotel arrangements.  We will communicate our final program plans with you over the coming weeks.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support of NBCC and our mission to end breast cancer.
