Lobby Day

NBCC’s Lobby Day on Capitol Hill is the culmination of the Annual Advocate Summit. The first three days of the conference will present breast cancer advocates with instruction in the most effective advocate strategies and training on how to influence decision makers.  

Day four of the Summit allows advocates the opportunity to jump right into action and put their advocacy skills to work!

On the Tuesday of NBCC’s Annual Advocate Summit, hundreds of breast cancer advocates descend on Capitol Hill to lobby their state’s members of Congress. Advocates are able to discuss NBCC’s top legislative priorities and urge their representatives to support the government actions that NBCC believes will move both public policy and federal research funding for breast cancer in the right directions to support Breast Cancer Deadline 2020^®.

On Lobby Day, our breast cancer advocates will:

• Urge members of Congress to support and pass the Accelrating the End of Breast Cancer Act, legislation which will help meet the Breast Cancer Deadline 2020® goal;
• Support access to high-quality health care for all;
• Promote continued funding for the Department of Defense (DOD) Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP).

NBCC’s Annual Lobby Day is a cornerstone element to both the Annual Advocate Summit and NBCC’s entire year. We bring our grassroots network of advocates to the doors of the nation’s decision makers, effecting change in public policy and scientific research to carve out the path that will move us towards eradicating breast cancer.
